William L. Hall

June 21, 1931 ~ September 11, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

William Leland Hall, 85, formerly of Scipio Center and Auburn, died peacefully on Sept. 11, 2016 in the Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, N.Y., having struggled with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia for many years.

“Bill” was the son of the late Clarence W. and Leona Hanna Hall, and was born in Madrid, N.Y. on June 21, 1931. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the V.F.W. #1975, Auburn, and a member of the Warren Salem Town Lodge #147 F.+A.M. He had retired from General Electric/Powerex Corporation in Auburn where he worked in the maintenance department for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years.

Bill is survived by one son, William Lee Hall (Denice), of Scipio Center, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan Alnutt (Kenneth), of Auburn, and Nancy Armes (Michael), of Rome, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Erin R. Green, of Florida, Cody L. Hall, of New York City, Connie Hall Briglio, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kenneth Alnutt, (Dawn), of Clay, N.Y., Matt Alnutt, of Auburn, Theodore Armes, of Rome, Pa., and Stephanie Armes, of Owego, N.Y.; two great-grandsons, Isaac Briglio and Adrian C. Alnutt; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Elisabeth Darratt Hall who died on July 1, 1976; a close companion for many years, Dolores Crego who died on April 26, 2011, and a sister, Irene Robinson who died on Aug. 2, 2014.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at the funeral home. Military honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Ledyard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation, 196 North St., Geneva, NY 14456, for the Huntington Living Center Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. William Leland Hall.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo for their wonderful care and compassion for Bill.
