Gary J. Macknail

Gary J. Macknail, 73, passed away Saturday, February 24, at Loretto Health Center, with his family by his side.

Gary was born November 24, 1950 in Auburn the son of the late Gary and Ella J. (Manual) Macknail.  Gary worked as a cook at the McKinley Square, Buffalo, NY for 16 years.   He loved social gatherings and was the life of the party.  Gary was a sharp dresser and loved creased jeans, fitted ball caps and Kangol’s. What he loved most was the adult relationships he developed with his children and every chance he got to express that, he did.  Those memories will forever be cherished. 

Services for Gary will be held from 10 am – 12 noon at The Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 103 Fitch Ave., Auburn, NY. Repass will be at Auburn’s First Church of God and Christ, 90 Garrow Street, Auburn. 

Gary is survived by his children:  Dr. Rhoda Overstreet-Wilson, Michelle Overstreet, Gary, Christopher and Vann Macknail; siblings; Veronica, Vicky, Toni, Sharon (Leslie) Cunningham, Tab and Vann; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, including a special friend Renee.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings; Linda, Donna, Tiny, Lamont, Poochi, Kerry and Patrick.
