Katherine passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 after a life long battle with medical issues.

Born in Auburn, NY to the late Madeline & William Sliter, Sr. on August 3, 1944. She was the eldest of 5 children. Katherine graduated from Skaneateles High School and attended Strafford Nursing School. She worked in food service at Lum's Restaurant. She was also a nurse’s aide at Auburn Hospital and various local nursing homes. Katherine spent many hours volunteering and her summers were spent preserving fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed dancing in her younger days, crocheting, crafts and playing games.

Katherine was predeceased by her first husband Joseph E. Nedza, her second husband Eugene E. Smith, her sisters Sharon Smith and Hollis Butler; brothers-in-law John Greene and Joseph Smith and 3 great-grandchildren.

Katherine is survived by her brother William (Barbara) Sliter, sister Eunice Greene, children Penny Bower, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Nedza, Trixie Smith, Lewis Smith, 7 step-children, 14 grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her lifetime best friend, Elizabeth Young – whom she visited 27 states with in 1964! She will be dearly missed by many.

At her request, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life, dish-to-pass, gathering will be held at the Scipio Fire Dept. on Sat., May 11th, 2024 from 12 to 3 pm. For details contact Jeff.
