Elsie Mae Hoag Obituary

Elsie Mae Hoag, 91, of Auburn, passed away on Friday March 8, 2019 at the Finger lakes Center for Living. She was the daughter of the late Karl and Gladius Marie Gridley Cole. Elsie worked for the Auburn City Hospital for 44 years and a few years for Dr. C.J. Ryan. She was past member of the First Baptist Church and an active member of the United Church of Auburn. In 2013 she was honored by the Church Women United of Cayuga County as Valiant Woman of the Year. This was awarded to someone who had given back to the community and Elsie was the first one bestowed the honor in Cayuga County. Elsie also received the Hero Award from the American Red Cross for all the hundreds of knitted mittens and hats she donated over the years to the local schools. Elsie also enjoyed being on the Rescue Mission and Home Bureau Committee’s.

She is survived by,

Daughters:          Carol Stock and her husband Keith of Auburn

                                Christine M. Kilborn of Brunswick, GA

Granddaughter:               Andrea Lynn Reisenweber of Waycross, GA

In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased her husband Edgar William Hoag, sister Marion McKena and brother Ralph Cole.

Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn. A funeral service will be at 10AM on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Ridgeway Cemetery in Poplar Ridge, NY
