Ernest "Ernie" E. Hyde Jr.

WEEDSPORT- Ernest “Ernie” E. Hyde, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Thurs. (July 19, 2018), surrounded by his loving family at Auburn Community Hospital. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tues. (July 24), at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 south St. Auburn. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wed. (July 25), in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Auburn.

Contributions may be directed to the New York State Dept. of environmental Conservation, or the American Cancer Society.

Ernie was born on Jan. 4, 1943, in Sodus, NY and was a son of the late Ernest E. and Nina Mae (Smith) Hyde, Sr. He was a hardworking mechanic who owned and operated Ernie’s Garage in Cayuga.  Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved hi family very much.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Emily Brewer Hyde of Weedsport; children, Ernest E. (Rebecca) Hyde III of Auburn, Annette (John Nevin) Hyde of Jordan, James (Teresa) Ransier of Port Byron, Tammy (Steven) Phillips of Auburn and Rebecca (Thomas) Abbott of Hannibal; brother, Stanley (Bonnie) Hyde of Wolcott; sisters, Judy (Bill) Pickard of Wolcott, Jeanie King of Martville and Carol (Clyde) Smith of Wolcott; daughters-in-law, Stacey Ransier of Auburn and Sandie Hyde of Oswego; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ernie was predeceased by sons, Robert Ransier and Mark Hyde.
