Lee N. Shaw Obituary

On Wednesday June 12, 2019, Lee N. Shaw passed away at the age of 89 after a brief battle with cancer. Born 2-28-1930 in New Rochelle, New York to Leo & Marie Shaw (née Heffernan).  He attended high school @ Canterbury Prep School in New Milford, CT. Continued on to Amherst College to receive a Bachelor’s degree in 1951. He played basketball & football & stayed in touch with many classmates.  He was the youngest Vice President of International Finance at JP Morgan in NYC & travelled extensively in Europe. On weekends, he worked hard to start a farm in Auburn, NY (Finger lakes Region) , beginning with a few acres. Growing oats, wheat, rye & soybean, building it into a 500 acre farm. He played golf from a young age & enjoyed the 19th hole, chatting with friends over a Dewars scotch.  He is known for his love of the land, ambitious work ethic, razor sharp memory & mind and the gift of conversation.  He was preceded in death by his father Leo, his mother Marie, his brother Robert & brother in law Micheal Sweeney. He is survived by his beloved wife Clare, step daughter Lisa, his sister Virginia, eight nieces & nephews, & 23 great nieces & nephews. Visitation will be from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2019 @ Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Rd. Auburn, NY 13021 funeral mass to follow at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of The Finger lakes or a charity of your choosing. Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn is in charge of the arrangements.
