Linda Kay Pinckney Obituary

Linda Kay (Hares) Pinckney

January 4, 1946 – July 13, 2018

Linda Kay went to live in green pastures with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 13th.

John 10:14-15 : I am the good shepherd I know my sheep and my sheep know me just as the father knows me and I know the father and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Linda Kay is a 1964 graduate of Union Springs Central School, where she met and fell in love with her life partner, David A. Pinckney Sr.  Linda and Dave sang their way into a lifelong marriage that they shared with their four children: David Pinckney Jr. (Darlene),  Jamie Sincerbeaux, Richard E. Pinckney (Mary Beth Fennessy), Jenie Morath (Mark George).  Living together on their family sheep farm, Linda & Dave traveled the United States to various sheep shows for 56 years.  Linda was more than just a wife, but business partner with Dave at Pinckney Farm.  She could always be found waiting in the truck for Dave, or next to the show ring keeping score of who placed where with a blue pen in hand.  Linda enjoyed spending every moment she could with Dave whether it was going to a show, or eating out at various restaurants and diners.  You might even see her name memorialized on the menu at Lewis Restaurant where they named a sandwich after her called “the Linda.”  She enjoyed other pastimes such as crossword puzzles, sewing, playing with her border collies, the Methodist Women’s Bible Club, and attending Cayuga Methodist Church.  Linda was previously employed at JC Penny for over 20 years.

Linda Kay is predeceased by her loving parents Mr. & Mrs. Richard & Marion Hares (King), her mother and father in law Mr. & Mrs. M. Allen & Arleen Pinckney, brother-in law Mr. Neil Webster, & Mr. Daniel Bowers as well as several aunts, uncles, and grandparents.    Linda is survived by her 13 grandchildren: Erica Johnston (Nick), Chealse Morath, Lindsay Sincerbeaux, Christopher Pinckney, Mathew Pinckney, Melissa Pinckney, Ashley McFarland (Adam), Grant Pinckney, Ava Pinckney, Bradley Cuddy, Bobby Cuddy, Marguerite Cuddy, and Bridget Cuddy.  Linda loved spending time with her great grandson Ethan Johnston.  She is survived by her four sisters: Kathy Jo Jirinec, Nancy Webster, Wanda Geer (Rich Coats), Carol Bowers, and brother-in law Donald K. Pinckney (Cheryl), and twelve nieces and nephews.  Linda and Dave also enjoyed spending time with their devoted neighbors Neil, Meghan, and Mason.

A celebration of life service will be held at Cayuga Methodist Church, 6201 Center Street, Cayuga, NY 13034 on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 4:00 pm.  Interment will proceed after the service at Lakeview Cemetery.    Arrangements have been made with Brew Funeral Home that has served the family for over sixty years.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Linda K. Pinckney Memorial Lead line Award, 161 Genesee Street, Suite 105, Auburn, New York Attn: Richard Pinckney.
