Mary L. Caruana

Mary L. Caruana, 79, of Auburn, died Saturday, August 24, 2019. Born July 9, 1940 in Horta, island of Faial in the Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the Antonio Escobar and Maria Augusta (Santos) Escobar. Mary married Joseph Caruana in 1961 in Terceira, Azores where Joseph was stationed while in the Navy. Following Joseph’s service in the Navy they moved to Auburn, NY.

Mary enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, and listening to Portuguese and Italian music.

Mary is survived by her six children Jim, Katherine, Carolyn, Lisa, Patricia and Richard her sister Maria Carmina Moser, eleven grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph, her four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 2PM to 5PM on Sunday September 1, 2019 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn with a service to follow at 5PM. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Royal Palms Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
