Barbara Benn Buxbaum

Barbara Benn Buxbaum, 95, of Auburn passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born in Auburn, NY on December 19, 1928 to the late Lester and Ethel Carle Benn. Barbara was a beloved English teacher at Auburn High School in Auburn for many years. Barbara was an avid reader, traveled throughout Europe by bike and was active with the Everson Museum Group and worked extensively with Hospice of the Finger Lakes. She also was an avid tennis and bridge player.  She was a member of the Owasco Country Club for many years.  She will also be remembered for the love of animals but especially for the love of her cats.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her beloved son Peter Benn Buxbaum, sister Joyce Simmonds and brother Gale Benn.

The family wishes to thank Chris Hammersly and her team for providing loving care for Barbara in the last years of her life.   

There will be no services at the request of Barbara.
