Carol H. Metzler

Carol H. Metzler, 84, died peacefully in her Skaneateles home on December 5th after a brief illness.  She was born in Syracuse, NY on Thursday, May 30,1940 to the late Raymond S. and Lois L. Hoyt.  

She attended high school at Onondaga Valley Academy and received her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. After graduating, Carol married Daniel W. Griffith. They had two children—Katherine M. Griffith and David A. Griffith. Her second marriage was to Robert M. Metzler, adding Bobby Metzler, Bill Metzler, Valerie Metzler, Sue Metzler, and John Metzler. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved.

For the first thirty years of her life, she was a member of Lafayette Avenue United Methodist Church, where she developed several life-long friendships.  Many who know her know that she positively impacted the trajectory of many lives around her.   

In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by husband Robert M. Metzler, children Katherine M. Griffith, Bobby Metzler, Bill Metzler and brothers Richard and David Hoyt.

There will be a memorial service at 1PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn, NY.
