Dixie A. Warner

Dixie A. Warner, 72, of Auburn NY passed away on April 8, 2025, at home. 

Dixie was born in Fulton, NY to Charles Warner and Patricia (Dixe) Warner.  She grew up in Baldwinsville, NY.  After high school she attended Cayuga County Community College, receiving a degree in Criminal Justice.  Following college, she began what became a 35-year career at the Auburn YMCA, ultimately becoming the Director of Administration.  It was a period of great growth for the YMCA and Dixie found much satisfaction being part of it.

She also worked at the Seymour Public Library, later becoming a member of the library’s Board.  Following retirement, she was able to combine her passion for gardening with her strong commitment to the Auburn community by developing and implementing the redesign of the library’s gardens, a legacy for all to enjoy.  Another contribution was a series of informative “Ask the Gardener” videos, which are available on the library’s website.

She greatly enjoyed her retirement and the opportunity to pursue her many interests and spend time with her friends, family, (and the cats she rescued and loved).

Dixie is survived by: two brothers, Michael of Andes NY, Jack of Boonville NY; a niece, Julia Warner of New York, NY; an aunt, Helen Dixie; an uncle Don Wheeler; and several cousins.

Calling hours are from 5 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday April 15, 2025, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, NY.

A Memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, also at the Brew Funeral Home.
