John JW Stokes

John JW Stokes, 76, was called to be with the Lord May 29, 2025 in the presence of his children.

He was born June 24, 1948, in Itta Bena, Mississippi to Willie Stokes and Lue Emma Jordan. John was one of 11 children. He later moved to Auburn, New York. He was employed at Columbia Rope and McQuay International. He retired from McQuay International in 2010. John enjoyed boxing, football and fishing. He loved to be outside in his yard.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents; Willie and Lue Emma; his sisters Barbara, Katie, Mae Emmie, Annie Ree, Geraldine, Rose and brothers Jim, Willie, and James.

He is survived by his children, Shane (Sheena), Katherine, Keya (Darrel), Ernest, Jared, John Jr., fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor John’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 4:30PM at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St. Auburn. Followed by a reception at the Sicz Club.

John JW Stokes lived with integrity and humility, his memory will forever be a blessing.
