Joseph A Besner, 68 passed away on, Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St Louis, MO and resided in Dexter MO with his daughter Dorothy Hawkins (Curtis) and son James Besner (Mary). He was born in Syracuse NY to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Ward Besner on January 2,1957 He grew up in Cato NY on his parent’s farm and graduated from Cato High School 1975. After high school he enlisted in the Army in which he served from 1976 to 1978. On August 12, 1977 he married Dorothy Brewer and together they had three children one daughter Dorothy Hawkins (Curtis), two sons Joseph Besner (Sara) and James Besner (Mary). He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Austin, Sierra, Dezaray (Alex), Montana, Shyann, Miracle, Persephone, Aries and Isis. Five great grandchildren Alexzander, Axle, Makenzie, Bella and Kennedy. He has five brothers Bruce, Dennis, Michael, Peter and Vincent. Six sisters Mary, Meg, Carla, Kathy, Gina and Melissa. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He worked Any Taxi for 22 years as a taxi driver and later worked at Wal Mart for 11 years. He loved fishing, hunting, barbequing, and spending time with his family. Joe was a man of golden heart and would do anything for anyone.
In addition to his parents Joe was predeceased by his life partner Dorothy, brother Lawrence Jr. and sister Christina.
Visitation will be from 11AM to 1PM on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn with a service at 1PM and the burial to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery with military honors.
