Mary A. Law Obituary

Mary A. Law 1942–2024

A cook with a talent to making true “homemade” Italian cuisine, a craftsman in the art of home décor, crochet, and jewelry, a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother to many. Mary A. Law, 81, of Port Byron, NY, passed away peacefully in Auburn Community Hospital on May 29, 2024.

Mary was born in Buffalo, NY on November 21, 1942, to her late parents Louis S. and Mary C. Ruberto, along with two older brothers Richard and Louis Ruberto.  Mary enjoyed the many long conversations she held with her mother and relished the closeness amongst her siblings through growing up to adulthood. Mary attended St. Mary’s School of Business before attending college and going to work administrative duties within the medical field.

Mary met her first husband Thomas M. Ralph, and soon gave birth to three children, Thomas M. Ralph Jr., Martin T. Ralph (Significant other Dianne Koval), and Todd M. (Shelley M.) Ralph, before later marrying Joseph M. Law. Mary always took her family seriously and took great pride in the various achievements of her children. As Mary’s children grew so did her family with grandchildren Daniel D. Gunn, Matthew S. Gunn, Thomas M. Ralph III, Michael T. (Marika) Ralph, and Lauren G. (Lawrence) Poole ; and further to great-grandchildren Thomas L. Ralph, Antonio V. Ralph, Nicholas M. Ralph, and Nadia H. Ralph, with more to come. Mary Treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they all loved her being their “Gigi.” Though many people held different titles in her family, she made sure to always purchase a greeting card before a holiday, with their proper title addressed on it.

Mary had made many friends along her path through life, too many to be named, but she received an immense amount of support from her long-time friend of 53 years Doreen L. Henry, long distance friend Sue Clamardi-West, and local friends Patricia A. Ladouceur and Ida Cusick.

Mary had a soft spot for her dogs, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were, and they provided support for her during her life. Kiki (Deceased) and Susie.

Mary was passionate about her role as an Office Manager at Dr. Freeman’s Ophthalmologist Office. Working for the company for over 20 years, to later work for the very hospital she passed away in for over a half decade.

Mary will always be remembered and appreciated for her Italian style, stubbornness, and cooking. We couldn’t have asked for a better sibling, parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, and will miss Mary every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her spouses Thomas M. Ralph and Joseph M. Law and brother Richard Ruberto.

Calling hours will be from 11AM to 1PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn with a service to follow at 1 PM. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fleming.
