Mary S. (Tidd) Berry, 80, of Owasco, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on September 8, 1945, to the late Charles and Mildred (Main) Tidd and graduated from Skaneateles High School in 1963. She was married to her lifelong companion and devoted husband, Louis “Louie” A. Berry, for 58 wonderful years, until his passing in 2022. Together they enjoyed many trips around the country and raised two hardworking sons, Jeffrey and Gregory (Shelley) Berry, both of Auburn.
Mary’s greatest joy in life came from being a grandmother — “Meema” — to Timothy (Becca) Berry of Hopkinton, MA, and Eryka and Emma Berry, both of Auburn. She was thrilled to become a great‑grandmother in 2025 to Tim’s son, Jack Louis Berry, named in loving memory of her husband.
Mary was known as a passionate caretaker who kept an impeccable home and cared deeply for her family. She will be fondly remembered for her incredible meals and memorable holidays. She loved working on the daily crossword puzzle, trying new recipes, indulging in potato chips, Hershey’s chocolate nuggets, and coffee, and watching reruns of Johnny Carson.
Mary is also survived by lifelong friends Mary Southern of Skaneateles and Ellen (David) Kershaw of Marcellus; sisters‑in‑law Patricia Bianconi of Aurora and Marilyn Chamberlain of Scipio; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Linda Molloy and Jill Sharpe.
A graveside service will be held at Soule Cemetery in Sennett on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mary’s family welcomes donations to her great‑grandson’s college fund. Checks may be made payable to Jack Berry, with “college fund” in the memo line, and mailed to Walden Mutual Bank, 66 N. Main St., Concord, NH 03301.
