Rev. Pamela D. Anderegg, 87, of Auburn, passed away on May 10, 2024 at Auburn Community Hospital with her husband, son and grandson at her side. She was the eldest daughter of the late Robert Singleton Demms & Vivienne Claire FitzGerald Demms of Darien, Connecticut.
Pamela was born on November 17th, 1936. She loved singing and acting, and after studying at ACT in San Francisco, she spent decades in the theater as both an actor and director. She found her call to service while running a halfway house in Ithaca, NY and became an ordained minister, attending Wells College and Colgate Rochester Divinity School. She served as Pastor at Ledyard and West Genoa United Methodist Churches, Throopsville Community Church in Throop, and eventually found her spiritual home serving as Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Auburn. She also served as an Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor at Auburn Correctional Facility and Coordinator for the Nursing Home Ombudsman Program, and her own counseling services that she termed “Short-Term, Solutions-Oriented Counseling”. She served as a board member or volunteer for many organizations in the area that include Bluefield Manor, Cayuga County Ethics Board, Hospice, Kiwanis, and Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, and even ran for Mayor of Auburn.
Pamela was a seemingly fearless person who followed her heart, was a forever optimist, and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and personal growth. She was passionate about making a difference and was guided by a strong sense of right and wrong. She was a trailblazer and a role model for many.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Anderegg, of 45 years, her brothers G. William Demms & Christopher Demms (Laura), her children Kiff Scholl, Robert Scholl and Vivienne Scholl (Kevin Potcner), and her grandsons Callisto Hess & Ethan Scholl.
Calling hours will be from 1PM to 4PM, Saturday, May 18 ,2024 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn with a memorial service to follow at 4PM.
