Ross Elton Shaffer Jr.

It is with great sadness that Ashley and Brian Shaffer announce the death of their father, Ross Elton Shaffer Jr., who passed away on November 20, 2025. He was born on June 8, 1962, in Lyons, New York, to his father Ross Shaffer, born in 1935, and his mother Edith (Blank) Shaffer, who passed in 2018.

He earned his GED and built a career as a machinist. He is survived by his father, Ross; his siblings Debra Donnelly, Mark Shaffer, and Amie Shaffer; and by his children Brian Shaffer and his wife Katie, and Ashley Shaffer and her spouse Gavin Dennis.

Of all his roles in life, Dad’s greatest joy came from being a grandfather. He will be remembered by his five grandchildren who brought him tremendous pride, love and a desire for life: Kenneth, Emersyn, Madelyn, Jack, and Caroline.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Port Byron Legion, located at 127 Main Street, Port Byron, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, listen to music, and honor his memory.
