Ruth G. Pinckney, 100, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at home. She was born on January 27 ,1924 in Sherbrooke Quebec, Canada to the late Leonard and Antoinette Frappier Gainer. Ruth served in the Canadian Army Women’s Corp from 1942 to 1945. In 1947 she married her husband Harold and they were married just shy of 50 years prior to his passing. She worked for BOCES in the audio and visual department. Ruth was an active member of I can Cope as a cancer survivor helping with scat van transportation, spreading the word of the group and providing other volunteer services. She was also a life member of the Auburn Elks Lodge # 474.
She is survived by,
Son, James F. Pinckney, Granddaughters, Amy Pinckney, Michelle Griffith, Christine Coon, Heather Caward, Meaghan Waby and Kelly Pinckney.
Also survived by several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by husband Harold L Pinckney, daughter Elaine Caward and son Harold T Pinckney.
There will be a funeral service at 11AM, on Thursday December 5, 2024 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn. Condolences may be made at www.brewfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Ruth can be made to the Auburn Elks Lodge, 314 State Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
