Susan Carol Smith

Susan Carol Smith, 78, of Auburn, NY formerly of Kennebunk, ME, passed away on January 12, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on June 29, 1947 in Auburn to the late Carl and Thelma Hoskins Smith. She graduated from Port Byron High School and attended Maryland Institute College of Arts in Baltimore. After doing work for Jacobs Press in Auburn, she created her own photography Studio, Portrait Place. Around 1984 Susan moved to Kennebunk, ME to pursue her dream of painting seascapes on Maine’s scenic coastal waters, where she created many works of art and met many friends. Family and friends also enjoyed many hand-crafted cards and pictures from her. She was also a strong American patriot being active in her local election’s headquarters.

Susan is survived by a sister, Sally (Cameron) Stuart of Throop, Aunts Leslie Kohman MD and Beverly Hoskins; several cousins and several nieces and nephews including great and great greats as well. Susan trusted her creator and savior, Jesus Christ to usher to a home in heaven.
