George E. “Slick” Minturn, passed away on October 19, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Arthur P. and Mary E. Paul Minturn. George enjoyed in his youth the 4H club and entering in the local rodeo’s. George served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a member of the Walter T. Conley American Legion Post 1107 in Union Springs for over 50 years. George was a lineman for the 1249 IBEW of Syracuse for over 30 years. For 13 years of his life he and his wife Janice lived in Yaak Montana where he loved to go on many hunting trips. He also was the President of the gun club and cherished teaching the next generation on gun safety training. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends of which he deeply loved.

Brothers:             Charles Minturn and his wife Karen

                                Ralph Minturn and his wife Judith

Sister:                   Martha Kalet and her husband Edward

Sister-in-law:     Mary Anne Kane

Grandchildren:  Frank T. Walter, Tad J. Patterson, Wyatt M. Patterson, Reilley E. Patterson, Patrick Murnane, Jacob Murnane, Danielle Knapp and her husband Ben, Gregory J. Delaney, Meghan L. Delaney and Jack P. Delaney

Several Nieces and Nephews

In addition to his parents George was predeceased by his brother Ronald Minturn.

Services will be announced at a later time and date. Shakelton Funeral Home, Auburn is in charge of the arrangements.

Contributions may be made to the Walter T. Conley American Post 1107, 8 Schobey Street, Union Springs, NY 13160 or to Hospice of the Fingerlakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021 in memory of George E. “Slick” Minturn.
