Gerard R. Klem

AUBURN / Gerard Roger Klem, 92, of The Commons on Saint Anthony, died Monday, October 10, 2016, in Auburn Community Hospital. 

Mr. Klem was born on November 26, 1923, in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Roger and Gertrude Zapf Klem, and had resided in the Aurora, Cayuga, and Auburn area since 1967.

Mr. Klem retired from TRW (formerly General Products) as Director of Purchasing. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching the NY Yankees.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and prior, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Aurora, and St. Michael’s Church, Union Springs.

Surviving is one daughter, Nancy J. Koran and her husband, Robert, of Bethesda, Md.; five sons, Donald E. Klem and his wife, Barbara, of Auburn, Robert J. Klem, of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth R. Klem and his wife, Valerie, of Goldsboro, N.C., Bernard P. Klem and his wife, Kay, of Dalton, Mass., and Joseph Klem and his wife, Jean, of Arlington, Va.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Klem was predeceased by his wife, Alice Spinder Klem, two sons, James and David Klem, and a sister, Evelyn Etter.

Arrangements are with the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn.  Services will be at the convenience of the family.
